THINGS TO DO NEARBY

  • Downtown Colorado Springs, where urban energy meets Rocky Mountain spirit

  • Old Colorado City, often called the "historic heart of Colorado Springs," is a charming and quirky neighborhood with Wild West roots.

  • Pikes Peak Highway, home to the highest toll road in North America, climbing all the way to the 14,115-foot summit of Pikes Peak.

  • Manitou Incline —Originally built as a cable car route to haul pipes and supplies up Pikes Peak, is now one of the most extreme stair climbs in the U.S. — with 2,744 steps gaining over 2,000 feet in elevation in less than a mile! Some of the steps are so steep, they hit a 68% grade. It’s a favorite training spot for Olympic athletes and thrill-seekers alike, but the view from the top (and the bragging rights) make every step worth it.

  • Cave of the Winds, one of the only caves in the world where you can feel the wind before you even enter — hence the name! When it was first discovered in 1881, the explorers noticed a strong rush of cool air coming from a small hole in the mountainside. That constant breeze is caused by the natural ventilation system within the cave’s vast network of chambers and tunnels, where differences in air pressure push the air out — almost like the mountain is breathing.

  • Garden of the Gods — The stunning red rock formations in Garden of the Gods were formed over 300 million years ago, and the park got its name in 1859 when two surveyors declared it would be a “fit place for the gods to assemble.” Even cooler? The entire park was gifted to the city of Colorado Springs in 1909 on the condition it would always remain free to the public — and it still is today! So you can enjoy world-class hiking, climbing, and scenery without spending a dime.
